Went to The Dinner Detective show and it was honestly a solid experience.
The format is what makes it work—actors are mixed in with the crowd, so you’re constantly second-guessing who’s real and who’s part of the show. It’s not one of those sit-back-and-watch events. You actually have to pay attention, connect clues, and talk to people if you want a shot at solving it.
The storyline had a good balance of humor and complexity. There were a lot of moving parts and it did a good job keeping people guessing. Plenty of misdirection too. If you go in thinking the “obvious suspect” did it, you’re probably wrong.
What stood out:
Interactive without being forced or awkward
Good pacing—didn’t drag between clues
Enough depth to actually solve if you pay attention
Actors stayed in character and kept things engaging even when called out.
I can say those with bad reviews didn’t participate, didn’t get the right answer or was forced to go.
What to know before going:
You need to participate a bit or you’ll miss key details
It can get noisy, so focus matters
Don’t lock onto one suspect too early
Overall, it’s a fun mix of dinner + live mystery where you actually use your brain. Worth doing, especially if you like problem-solving or want something different from the usual night out.
