Case closed in Palm Springs on January 17. Congratulations to our winner Jack Holloway, who proved there is nothing hollow about his detective skills. Like a true action hero, Jack locked onto the truth, took down the suspects, and walked away from the mystery without looking back at the explosion. Palm Springs never stood a chance.

Today I learned I am not great at solving fake murders.

I brought my mom and Jayda to a murder mystery dinner which made it a three-generation night out. We picked our character names (mine was Ella Vader, my mom was Belle Bottom) and got seated next to some guests who were fully committed.

The dinner was interactive, chaotic, and surprisingly funny. The food was actually good. The mystery was WAY harder than I expected. And even though they explained who did it at the end, I’m still not totally sure how we got there.

Did I solve the murder? Absolutely not. But it was such a fun memory with my mom and my daughter, and I’d totally do it again. Just probably an easier one next time.
