Planning an evening’s entertainment can be quite stressful. First you have to pick the location(s) you’ll be visiting, plan for the different admission fees, then deal with the hassle of driving through traffic to your first location, parking and then driving to the second location and parking. That’s why we have so many great spots for dinner and a show in San Francisco. You don’t have to move the car, just arrive once and enjoy a whole night without the stress and hassle of extra planning. Not sure where to start? Here are a few of our favorite hot spots for dinner and a show in San Francisco.
The Speakeasy is described as an “immersive theatre experience” and it’s quite a lot of fun. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back into the 1920s as 35 different characters lead you through a choose-your-own-adventure type of evening through the era of Prohibition. From song and dance to comedy, drama, gaming and more, you’ll find hidden passages and secret rooms as you go throughout the Palace Theater. After the first 40 minutes or so, you are free to wander the building, watch any of the performers you like or explore different areas. Pair this with a Prix Fixe menu at the nearby Capo’s Restaurant (be sure to let them know you’ve got tickets to The Speakeasy) and you have a dinner and a show combo that is sure to impress any special date.
The Marrakech Magic Theater
Everyone loves a good magic show. The Marrakech Magic Theater is another speakeasy-style location done up with some Moroccan flair. Enjoy world-class magicians in the lounge as soon as you walk in the door. Then dine on a tasty selection of Moroccan appetizers and drinks before you’re seated in the showroom. Once inside, you’ll get treated to a fantastic evening of magic, mentalism and more. It’s a truly unforgettable evening and when you get to enjoy a brilliant magician plus you can dine on delicious treats like a classic shish kebab platter, Bastila or Eggplant salad, then you’ve got an evening to remember.
PianoFight is another gem of the indie San Francisco art scene. This hot spot is home to two different theaters and a cabaret stage, all of which host a huge variety of entertainment, depending on the night you attend. The calendar features everything from live music to comedy, plays, dance, film screenings, drag shows, magic shows, and more. Plus it’s all served with a large menu with delicious bites like Classic Mac and Cheese served with bacon and serrano peppers or the PianoFight Burger, which comes with bacon jam and caramelized onion. You also have to save room for the Doughssants – deep-fried croissants served with a vanilla bourbon glaze and a berry compote. All this plus a huge menu of great cocktails and varied entertainment? It’s a win/win for any night of the week.
The Dinner Detective
Of course, what list of dinner-and-a-show would be complete without The Dinner Detective? If you’ve never been to one of The Dinner Detective’s interactive murder mystery dinner shows, it’s unlike any other show around. Instead of cheesy costumes, the murder is set in present day, with actors hidden throughout the room. That’s right, you might even end up sitting at the same table as the murderer. You’ll get to interrogate everyone, ask lots of questions, explore clues and see if you can solve the crime – and two hilarious detectives are on the case to help you throughout the whole night. Plus it’s all served with a delicious four-course plated dinner so you get dinner and a full night of entertainment without having to drive across town or find new parking. Hurry though, seating for these shows is always limited, so be sure to book early!
