Whodunit?!

Nice try, but we won’t tell you!  You’ll just have to come see the show for yourself.  Be careful, though.  You never know who’s responsible for MURDER!

I’ve never been to a murder mystery dinner show. How does it work?

It is a four-course sit-down dinner in which each guest is allowed to choose their own entree. In between each course of the meal, we have another part of the show. The show is an interactive and improvised comedic murder mystery set in the present day. None of our performers are dressed in costume, but instead are dressed just like everyone else; therefore you do not know who is a part of the show and who isn’t.

The show takes place throughout the entire room, and performers may actually be seated at your table, so part of the fun from the beginning is trying to figure out who’s involved in the crime and who’s not. Throughout the night, murders and mayhem will occur, hidden clues will come forth and our Detectives will help everyone try to solve the crime. In the end, we have a prize package for the Top Sleuth who comes closest to solving the crime.

PLEASE NOTE: Guns and loud gunshots are used as part of the performance.

What does the ticket include?

Every murder mystery admission ticket includes: An interrogation reception, hors d’oeuvres, fresh rolls and butter, salad, your choice of entree, dessert, wait staff gratuity for food service (beverage service and performer gratuity not included), and a tantalizing Prize Package for the Top Sleuth who comes closest to solving the crime.  We also have a full bar if you would like to purchase cocktails, and we feature several drink specials every night.  An ATM is easily accessible inside the venue.

What does the venue look like?

We hold our weekly public Murder Mystery Dinner Shows and many of our private shows at the Antlers Hilton, located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Do I have to participate in the show?

No, you do not. Customers are not required to perform in any way, but because our murder mystery performers are not dressed up in costume, the audience will not know if you are a part of the show or not and may interact with and possibly interrogate you on their own.

If my party buys tickets separately, can we be seated together?

Yes!  Please ask your party members to mention the last name of your original party in the Party Seating Request box during the order process.  We will seat your group together at 10-person tables, so if your group is larger than that, we will break the group up equally and seat you at adjacent tables. Your group cannot receive our $5/person group discount unless 10 or more tickets are purchased together in the same transaction. Please note, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions or allergies will be honored unless we are notified of those restrictions/allergies at the time of your order!

What is the minimum age?

Due to the interactive and somewhat unpredictable nature of our shows, the minimum age requirement is 15, and adult supervision is required. The Dinner Detective reserves the right to deny entry to any party with one or more guests under the age of 15.

How far in advance do I need to make reservations?

The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery public shows do sell out every Saturday (sometimes a week before, sometimes the day of the show) so we encourage our guests to make reservations and buy their tickets as soon as possible.

How much is the individual ticket?

The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show general admission tickets start at $59.95/person*, and the group rate for parties of 10 or more is $5 off per person. Please note that large parties must purchase 10 or more tickets at a time and cannot receive the large party rate if all tickets are purchased individually or tickets are added to an already large party.  *Pricing is seasonal and may change during select holidays and the month of December.  Prices do not include minimal service fees.

What do you serve? Entrees? Desserts?

We recognize that many of our guests have allergic or dietary restrictions, and we request that you note those restrictions when placing your order so that we may accommodate you appropriately. Please note, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions or allergies will be honored unless we are notified of those restrictions/allergies at the time of your order!

Do you have a bar?

Yes, a fully-stocked bar is available all night long, with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Please note, the bar is cash only, but an ATM is easily accessible inside the venue.

What is the schedule for a typical show? When do we eat?

Is it fun?

Yes! The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show was voted 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Best Dinner Show in Los Angeles and Denver. We do sell out every Saturday night and have received numerous rave reviews from a variety of publications. Almost all of our business is from word of mouth, so we must be doing something right! We have many reviews and testimonials on our website under REVIEWS.

How does the seating work?

Everyone has assigned seats at 10-person banquet style tables. If your party is larger than 10, then we ask you to let us know how you would like us to divide up your party, or else we will divide you up evenly and seat your two parties next to each other. Please note, we cannot guarantee party seating requests will be honored unless we are notified of those requests at the time of your order!

How do I know if I’ve purchased “good” seats?

Since there is no set stage and the action happens all around you, all of our seats are center stage!  Our performers make an effort to ensure all guests are equally involved and engaged in solving the crime.

What time does the show start & what time should I arrive?

Check-in begins at 6:15 PM, and the show begins promptly at 6:30 PM. Special shows may start earlier or later; if you have any questions, please contact our box office at (866) 496-0535.

How long is the show?

About 3 hours, including dinner service.

Where is your venue located? Where do I park?

The Antlers Hilton is located at 4 South Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.  Complimentary validated parking is available in the hotel’s underground parking structure. Valet parking is available for a fee. Detailed directions and parking information is available from the Antlers Hilton website.

What is the dress code?

Business casual or dressy casual is absolutely required. No T-shirts, shorts, baseball caps or torn clothes are permissible. The Dinner Detective reserves the right to refuse entry to any guests whose dress does not conform to our dress code.

What do I need to bring?

Besides your emailed confirmation page, we will provide you with everything you will need to solve the mystery.

Are there special room rates at the hotel for Dinner Detective guests?

To book specially-priced room reservations at the Antlers Hilton, call (719) 955-5600 and ask for in-house reservations and the special Dinner Detective “catering” room rate!

Can I transfer my tickets to another show? Can I change my meal order?

Yes, you may email cos.info@thedinnerdetective.com or call 866-496-0535 to transfer your tickets or change your meal orders. All rescheduled reservations are subject to a $10/person rescheduling fee (more than 4 days before the show) or a $40/person rescheduling fee (4 days or less before the show). No meal changes within 36 hours of show date.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

Once your purchase/reservation is complete, The Dinner Detective does not offer partial or full refunds of Dinner Detective show tickets or packages. All sales are final and non transferrable. This policy includes all Dinner Detective shows throughout the United States as well as individual tickets purchased through brokers.

What are the Additional Packages?

They are bundled money-saving items that are bought in addition to the individual admission. The packages are purchased on a per-package basis and are not charged on a per-person basis (e.g., if a party of four buys a Gift Package, there will be a one time charge of $29.95 added to their bill).

Suspect Package
This optional package lets you get a member of your party involved in the show as a Prime Suspect! Because our performers are not dressed up in costume, we will use your guest as a red herring to trick the audience into believing they are involved in the murder plot. So as not to ruin the surprise, we only reveal how we do it once the package is purchased. This package has a one time fee of $14.95 per package, not per person.

Gift Package
This optional package comes with a Dinner Detective coffee mug, a Dinner Detective t-shirt, and the opportunity to get a member of your party involved in the show as a Prime Suspect! Because our performers are not dressed up in costume, we will use your guest as a red herring to trick the audience into believing they are involved in the murder plot. So as not to ruin the surprise, we only reveal how we do it once the package is purchased. This package has a one time fee of $29.95 per package, not per person.

Celebration Package
This optional package comes with two Dinner Detective t-shirts, two Dinner Detective coffee mugs, and the opportunity to get a member of your party involved in the show as a Prime Suspect! Because our performers are not dressed up in costume, we will use your guest as a red herring to trick the audience into believing they are involved in the murder plot. So as not to ruin the surprise, we only reveal how we do it once the package is purchased. This package has a one time fee of $39.95 per package, not per person.

Is it good for birthdays, anniversaries, dates and special occasions?

Definitely! We specialize in celebrations and special occasions. We handle about three to four birthdays per show and are always having couples join us along with families, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. For special occasions, we offer special packages which come with various gifts. In addition, you will also have the opportunity for a special Dinner Detective Murder Mystery surprise, which allows you to get a member of your party involved in the show as a Prime Suspect without them knowing beforehand. Because our performers are not dressed up in costume, we will use them as a red herring to trick the audience into believing they are involved in the plot in one way or another. Once purchased, we will send you a confirmation email which will tell you everything you need to know regarding how we get them involved and what we will need from you on your end.
